Cat Cafes in Osaka

If you don’t know what a cat cafe is, or have never been to one, you are in for a world of pure furry joy (sorry for those who are allergic!). It’s exactly what it sounds like – cat cafes are cafes where you hang out with cute felines while enjoying a beverage and/or snacks. The trend started in Taiwan back in 1998, and since has been made very popular in Japan and the rest of the world. I mean, why wouldn’t it? It’s the perfect solution for those of us who cannot keep cats at home for any reason; we all deserve a dose of fluffy happiness once in a while! Tokyo is definitely a better place to find not only cat cafes, but owl, rabbit, dog, bird cafes, and even snake cafes! My personal favourite is a goat cafe…insert all the YouTube goat videos. Who’s with me. But if you’re in the Kansai area, Osaka has plenty of options for you to explore as well. In fact, the very first cat cafe in Japan was built in Osaka!

Anyway, I digress. Here are some of the best cat cafes in Osaka:

猫cafeラグドール (Nekocafe Ragdoll)

It’s a spacious, relaxed space, located in Namba. Treats for cats are included in the set price, so it’s easier for you to get to know the little kitties better!

The cats at this cafe have all come from an NPO called Osaka Neko Net, which is a volunteer organisation that helps look for people to adopt these rescue cats. Great place to hang out if you love cats and want to do some good at the same time.

猫の時間 きた本店 (Neko no Jikan – Kita-Honten)

As mentioned above, the very first cat cafe that was opened in Japan! Unlike most other cat cafes in Japan, this place has a Japanese-style interior, which I am personally a huge fan of. All the cats here are super friendly too. The fourth floor of this building has a cat room called “Second House”, available only for private bookings, which is perfect for events such as birthday parties.
