If you’re leaving the Kansai region—whether from Osaka, Kyoto, or Kobe—your international flight will most likely depart from Kansai International Airport (KIX).
The airport is located on an artificial island in southern Osaka Bay, about 45 km from central Osaka. From Namba, one of Osaka’s main transportation hubs, you can reach Kansai Airport by train, airport bus, or taxi.
Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the best option depending on your budget, schedule, and luggage.

1. Train (Most popular option)
The train is the most convenient and reliable way to travel from Namba to Kansai Airport.
From Nankai Namba Station, you have two main choices.
Nankai Limited Express Rapi:t
The Rapi:t is the fastest and most comfortable train between Namba and Kansai Airport.
Travel time: 35–39 minutes
Frequency: Every 30 minutes
Fare :
Regular Seat: Adult 1,560 yen / Child 780 yen
Super Seat: Adult 1,740 yen / Child 980 yen
Reserved seating only
Departure: Platform 9 (usually)
Seats are spacious, and large suitcases can be stored in the designated luggage racks. The train name comes from the German word “Rapid”, and its futuristic design is one of the most recognizable trains in Osaka.

The platform is on the third floor of the station.

Airport Express (Kuko Kyuko)
If you want to save money, the Airport Express (空港急行 / Kuko Kyuko) is the best option.
Travel time: about 45 minutes
Frequency: every 15 minutes
Fare: 970 yen
Departure: Platform 6 (usually)
This train is not reserved, so during morning rush hour (7:30–9:00 am) it can become very crowded. Traveling with large luggage may be a bit stressful at those times.
If the Rapi:t has just departed, taking the Airport Express is still a good and economical choice.

JR Train (Not recommended)
You can also reach Kansai Airport using JR lines, but it requires a transfer at Tennoji Station.
In addition, JR Namba Station is slightly disconnected from the main Namba area, making access less convenient.
For this reason, JR trains are usually only recommended if you want to use a Japan Rail Pass.
2. Airport Bus
Airport limousine buses depart from OCAT (Osaka City Air Terminal) near JR Namba Station.

When you enter the building:
Go straight to the central escalator

2. Take it up to the 2nd floor

3. The bus stop is Gate 5, right beside the escalator

Tickets can be purchased at the vending machine near the bus gate.
⚠️ Be careful when purchasing tickets:
Osaka actually has two airports.
Kansai International Airport (KIX) – international flights
Osaka Airport / Itami Airport (ITM) – domestic flights
Make sure to select Kansai International Airport.
Bus details:
Travel time: 48 minutes to Terminal 1
+11 minutes to Terminal 2
Fare: 1,300 yen
Round trip: 2,300 yen
Schedule:
First bus: 5:15 am
Last bus: 9:10 pm
Buses are comfortable and luggage-friendly, but delays may occur depending on traffic.
③Taxi
3. Taxi (Door-to-door but expensive)
Taking a taxi is the easiest option, especially if you have lots of luggage or an early morning flight.
Companies such as MK Taxi offer fixed-rate airport transfers.
Typical fare:
13,400 yen+ from Namba to Kansai Airport
Highway toll: about 1,300 yen extra
Standard taxis can carry up to 4 passengers, but luggage space is limited. If you have large suitcases, 2–3 passengers is more realistic.
Larger vehicles can also be reserved in advance.

Summary
Train (Recommended)
Fast, frequent, and the most reliable option.
Bus
Comfortable with luggage but may be affected by traffic.
Taxi
The easiest door-to-door option but the most expensive.
Important note about early flights
If your flight departs very early in the morning, transportation options are limited.
There are no trains or buses from Namba that arrive at Kansai Airport before 6:00 am.
In that case you may want to:
Stay at a hotel near Kansai Airport the night before
Take a taxi directly from Namba
Or take a taxi to Umeda, where some earlier airport buses depart
No matter which option you choose, Namba offers convenient access to Kansai Airport, so you can select the transportation that best fits your budget and schedule.
